Really Old Food, A Love Story

September 19 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Join the Woodinville Heritage Society & Museum as we welcome Humanities Washington speaker Harriet Baskas for Really Old Food: A Love Story, presented in partnership with Maryhill Winery at the historic Hollywood Schoolhouse.

A 150-year-old pickle. Food buried with mummies. A petrified banana that inspired a museum.

Explore the strange, surprising, and meaningful foods that have survived long past their expiration dates—and the stories that keep us from throwing them away.

Why do we intentionally save certain foods? And how can something as ordinary as a pickle, a banana, or a family recipe become a connection to memory, culture, and history?

In this fascinating and fun program, Harriet Baskas shares stories of vintage vittles preserved through unusual circumstances, personal attachment, and sheer accident—and invites us to consider the foods and food traditions that hold meaning in our own lives.
